It is the amazing team behind the counter that makes The Spot tick. We've employed all walks of life from the east coast to the west coast and beyond. Our company prides itself on diversity and inclusivity, recognizing that each individual brings a unique set of skills, perspectives, and experiences to the table.
History of the spot
As both surfers and travelers, we found Acai bowls in almost every country we explored. Each one boasted a colorful array of tastes that reflected its specific region. From exotic islands to black sand beaches in Central America, these delightful treats were as varied as the waves we rode.
When Logan's Ice Cream shut down next to our Surf Shop in 2015, it seemed like destiny had handed us a golden opportunity and without hesitation, we took the leap of opening our second Outer Banks business, bringing Acai bowls to locals and visitors alike. The Spot was born!
Nikki, Leanne & Shawn
Serial Entrepreneurs and friends since the late 1990's Shawn, Nikki, and Leanne have had a passion for creating and building successful businesses. Their first venture together was in 2012 with the acquisition of Outer Banks icon, The Secret Spot Surf Shop in Nags Head. Three years later, in 2015, they opened The Spot, next door to the surf shop. Then in mid 2020, the second Spot location was opened in Kitty Hawk (in the middle of COVID).
